What makes ACE different
ACE uses the IFT model (Integrated Fitness Training). This model puts heavy weight on coaching, communication, and helping clients build habits that stick. If you want to work with general fitness clients or focus on lifestyle change, ACE is a strong pick. ACE also requires at least one CE credit in a diversity, equity, and inclusion topic at renewal.
How to prepare for the ACE exam
ACE offers study packages with a textbook, online content, and practice exams. Plan for 8 to 12 weeks of study. Focus on these areas:
- The IFT model and its four training phases.
- Behavior change strategies and motivational interviewing.
- Functional assessments: posture, balance, and movement screens.
- Program design for cardio, strength, and flexibility.
After you pass: keeping your ACE cert active
You need 20 CECs every two years plus a current CPR/AED card. The renewal fee is $129. ACE accepts credits from other NCCA-accredited orgs. At least one credit must be in a diversity, equity, and inclusion topic.
